So, I barely slept last night because I was so anxious. I was awake at 6:15 and got up and got dressed and we were at the track at 7:45. We recieved our passes (including our cold garage pass - ek) and someone showed us around and in the infield, etc.

So my first task was to go up to the regular broadcasting booth and see if they need anything there and they didn’t. So I head back to the Fox compound and somewhere along the way, she comes by and says to go empty the water from the ice chest, put some more ice, and a little carton of milk… so I do that, and had to get help from two ESPN runners, and then Jack and Rafiah came to help me b/c I couldn’t move that thing alone! So we do that, go back and Rafiah and I have to go to the Hollywood Hotel… so we have to drive two golf carts and driving under that tunnel was exhiliarating (is that spelled right?)

So we find our way through there, Rafiah and I exchange carts and I run into Jeff Hammond… so Rafiah has to stay there so I get on a cart and leave. As I’m driving by some Busch garages I realize that I’m on the wrong golf cart… I’m on a Speed channel cart… So I hurry back, always running over Steven Wallace in the meantime who laughed and kept walking. So exchange carts again and drive back slowly b/c the cart is slow as hell and I’m enjoying my time, so as I pass through fan zone and go back towards the tunnels… the Cup cars are practicing drafting and just as I start to go in the tunnel, the cars drive past me, drafting: Tony, Kasey, Matt, Junior… I don’t remember who else but I almost cried. But I get back and Rafiah has the wrong cart.. she has a talent cart, not the Hollywood Hotel cart so I go back to switch and while I’m there… there’s Hermie! So I say hey and he says hi and we get on our carts and leave lol

So I head back and I sit at the catering tent with the Fox meal cards and give them to accredited Fox peeps… which amounted to only one besides me and my two peeps. So I sat there, sunburned (lol), see Mike Joy, all them peeps and finally go back to the main compound. So I make copies of tomorrow’s schedule for everybody and this really cool guy shows me and Rafiah where to go post them everywhere… and we walk into the executive bus, kind of like the NASCAR Hauler, and I stepped in and there’s Dick B., Mike Joy, D.W., Jeff Hammond, Steve Burns, every TV personality imaginable and homeboy was like “we go in and leave quickly” but THAT was intimidating as hell. So we see the guy that invited us down and he tells us that we can leave if we want.

So Rafiah and I go find Jack in the booth, in the media room building and go up to the suites and watch the rest of Busch practice… I finally get to see Tony drive the #33 Old Spice Car… *sigh* We came back to the hotel and went to the beach and tada, here I am. We have to be at the track at seven in the morning (main people have to be there at five!). We’re going to go grab some dinner soon and then probably head to bed. I’m tired, but not really, just, it’s so awesome.
