I was an actual Racing Media person today…

I’ve always pictured myself as the person behind the camera because let’s face it… I’m not the prettiest person in the world, but today… I found myself being the person in front of the camera, the one interviewing, talking to drivers and track owners. I was like Steve Burns.

Okay so, I wasn’t as good, and I kind of studdard talking to Mark McFarland, but still, I did it and apprently I did a good job. Taylor, a guy in my class, and I went up to South Georgia Motorsports Park for Media Day for the 2nd race in the South East Division of the Hooter’s Pro Cup Series and honestly, we felt like the most important people there… they were so nice to us, treating us like real media and not just stupid college kids who don’t know what they’re doing.

Mark McFarland was very nice, a little shy, but nice. He said that he was planning some Busch North races with his new team this year and hopefully some actual Busch races. He said he didn’t see coming back to the Hooter’s Series as a set back because it’s good competitive racing just like the Busch series, if not better and that he really likes the track here. He has the first pole here in the very first Hooter’s race here back in 2005 and almost won the race but had a tire go out late in the race and Shane Huffman, who took over the seat of JR Motorsports’ 88 Busch Car when Mark was released.

And Kasey Kahne was there testing the Car of Tomorrow last week (which Elliott alludes to in his NACAR weekly article).  He may also be here next week but it’s not for sure yet since he’s not racing in the Nashville BUSCH race.

Today was awesome, but now… I’m at work and I’ve got to go study for law. Blah. Test tomorrow. Blah.

i am so proud of you and excited for you and for next weekend (out of my frustration about Sundays i forgot to tell you that i did get Saturday off YAY!)

Good Luck on your test tomorrow!

I’m proud of you! You sound like you did a great job. Who is Mark’s new team? Just wondering!

The new layout’s nice.

Go on with you bad self with interviewing! LOL I’m sure you kicked butt.

I’m still so excited (and totally jealous) about your interview. It’s cool that you got to do something a little different and be in front of the camera.

Good luck with your test!

Thanks guys :)

Sarah… he’s racing the 81 in the Hooter’s Series… I want to say it’s McLaughlin Racing but I’m not sure. It’s on the website though :)
