So I had a panic attack today…. in my Field II class, which is the movie class… part two. So basically I dropped the Bio lab and picked up a Sociology class after I went and talked to the teacher this morning (the class was full). That gives me 19 hours… yes, I know I’m crazy. This way next semester I’m only taking 15 hours, two of which are just Bio labs one day a week.
So now this is my schedule:
Mondays:
8am - Newspaper meeting
10am - Broadcasting & Culture
12pm - Media Criticism
1pm - Mathmatic Modeling
2pm - 4pm - Work
6:30-7:45pm - Biology 1010Tuesdays / Thursday
9:30am-1045 - Intro to Social Problems
11:00am - 1:45pm - Field Production II
2pm to 7pm - Work (6pm on Thursdays)Wednesday
10am - Broadcasting & Culture
12pm - Media Criticism
1pm - Mathmatic Modeling
2pm - 3pm - Work
3-630pm - Start working on Newspaper production
6:30-7:45pm - Biology 1010
7:45pm - whenever - Production Night on PaperFriday
10am - Broadcasting & Culture
12pm - Media Criticism
1pm - Mathmatic Modeling
2pm - 6pm - Work
So basically the panic attack came today in Field Production II… I had just signed up for 19 hours and already a little weary until Pat (our teacher) tells us basically that we have to make a small movie a week… the first few weeks basically telling a story with different aesthetics… lighting, character, dialogue, things like that, then we have to do three little movies where he gives us five words and we have to make a movie out of it. For instance, Jaw’s plot is “Trying to kill a shark”. One of these movies I have to make while I’m in Charlotte. Then we have to write two short scripts (one 5 and one 10) and then make our final project, using all the things we’ve learned.
My response when he asked if we had any questions: “I’m becoming an alcoholic this semester.”
He’s my advisor so I stayed after and talked with him a few minutes, asking if I should drop a class and just wait until the summer to graduate or next fall and all of that and I could just go ahead and take the classes for my broadcast journalism certificate, but he said he thought I could do it. I have this feeling that I can do it, but I’m scared but being as he’s my teacher and he’s been able to see what I can work towards in my TV class and in my law class (I was badly failing to start with), I trust him. He’s an awesome teacher. He’s been a set decorator on movies like Interview with a Vampire, Crossroads, and Fetch (I think? That Chevy Chase movie).
So tomorrow, I’ve got an appointment with my counselor at 3 and I’m going to talk to her about this stuff. Really though it sounds bad, but I don’t think it is. I have weekends off now so I can concentrate on my filming, do my homework and studying, etc. during the week while I’m at work. The only thing suffering is… I don’t think I’m going to be able to be involved with the radio station now.
And if you know me well enough *wink*, that’s killing me.
Now in the Spring semester, all I need to take is:
Digital Media Production
Video Workshop (I’ll probably take news again since I really enjoyed it)
Media Ethics
A History type elective… probably Race & Gender Issues, that’s the one I want to take
Bio 1020 lab
Bio 1040 lab
The bio labs are only 1 day a week so with the others, that’s not that bad and I’ll be done.
And now I’m freaking out again.
And the Kyle Busch announcement? No comment. But at least I’ll be able to get a Shrub Bunny pic now!
