Before I start getting ready for class tomorrow, a 8am newspaper meeting, and bed… a little news. First though, I want to ask all the racing fans an opinion on something.
Do you think that there’s a possibly of an inside job to make sure that Dale, Jr. doesn’t make the Chase? I think it’s funny that it’s mostly Junior having the engine problems. Sure, Truex has had one… but Childress has been FINE. Think the evil step-mother might be doing a little dirty business on the side? *enter soap opera music*
Gibbs Racing to announce Busch on Tuesday morning: Kyle Busch will be formally introduced as the new driver at Joe Gibbs Racing on Tuesday morning at the team’s Cornelius, N.C., shop. “Before I say anything I want to have a done deal,” team president J.D. Gibbs before Sunday’s Nextel Cup race at Watkins Glen International. “I feel good about it. Right now we feel good about it and the direction we’re going.” Gibbs said Interstate Batteries will remain at least a partial sponsor of the #18, but didn’t rule out another sponsor coming in. He reminded the company gave up half of its races a few years ago. “Like we have in the past, they may choose to give up some races, move stuff around,” Gibbs said. “They’re the ones that have been there and started the deal.
You know, as long as Tony keeps winning like this, I don’t care if Kyle joins or if they go to Toyota…. ONLY if he keeps this winning up.
And also from Jayski:
Drivers to the #8 team? on ESPN’s NASCAR Now on Sunday, it was reported that David Reutimann’s name [#00 Waltrip racing Toyota] has popped up as a driver who could end up at DEI and in the #8 Chevy, but that he cannot talk to other teams until Oct when his contract with MWR is up. Other drivers DEI are interested in include J.J. Yeley who will leave the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing ride at the end of the season, #01-Regan Smith, currently part time at DEI and without a ride, could stay. Plus, the team could switch Mark Martin and Aric Almirola from the #01 Army Chevy to the #8 next season.(8-12-2007)
I don’t think Mark would move from the 01… he wants to be in the 01… not the 8. I wouldn’t mind JJ and Truex being teammates though….
