So, I slept for hm, 15 hours. Yes, that’s how tired I was. It totally messed up my plans today. I planed to go around my hometown and video daytime scenes for my class project which I still can but it results in me having to miss parts of NASCAR Race Day on Speed and that makes me very unhappy. On the other hand… Tara reminded me of something… Junebug is wearing the man, the legend this weekend - Elvis Aron Presley. My…. I don’t know what to call him. He fascinates me. I’ve loved him my entire life and my middle name is Presley for God’s sake. I know I didn’t pick him to win this weekend, but I really hope I am proven wrong and if Elliott Sadler can’t win, I hope Junior does (or Truex)…. be Junior because of this car and what it means to me, him, and his Grandma Martha.
On THAT note, I was discussing this with Shannon yesterday at work and I’ve known about it for a while, but Liz Allison, Davey Allison’s widow who is now remarried but still apparently writes under her former married name (wonder how the husband feels about that? I think the same thing about Priscilla too so it’s not just Liz). And for the record, NONE of this is against Liz personally, just the book itself. Anyway, she’s written a new book, ‘Winning a NASCAR Driver’ which I think is just an attempt at three things:
1.) Making Money because all of the money hungry bimbos in the world will buy it.
2.) Probably distroying her credibility within the NASCAR realem because, her first book which was a guide for girls to understand NASCAR was a great thing… but this? Eh.
3. Getting Attention.
While I’m all for showing the ‘girl power’ in NASCAR, this is just making female fans look bad I think, especially to those who don’t think that girl fans are ‘real fans’. When I was talking with Joel Stein the other day about the article, I made sure he knew that I wasn’t a pit lizard. I don’t go around the pit area or any area for that matter, dressing slutty, trying to pick up a driver so I could be set for life and become famous. I may not be into the whole technological side of NASCAR, because I’ll be honest, I don’t even know how to change the fucking oil in my truck, I’m into the racing and the fact that 50% of these guys racing are hot as hell does not hurt the matter because let’s face it, I’m a 27 year old heterosexual woman with hormones and a liking for guys in sports - whether it be a race car driver or a center or quarterback of a football team. And I’m sure some would testify that I write fan fiction about drivers that sometimes seems a little pit lizardy, but in reality, it’s just that - fiction. I’ve written fan fiction about fandoms I’ve loved since I graduated high school in 1998. I’m a creative writing minor. I love to write, especially about things I love so don’t even get me started on the whole Harlequin NASCAR Series of books is nothing but fan fiction with the driver’s name changed.
But this book, I believe, is just going to feed the pit lizard ‘phenomenon’ and I hate that. No, I haven’t read it yet, hell I barely have time to read assignments for one of my 19 credit hour classes, but I’ll probably borrow it from Shannon when she gets it (and she’s not a pit lizard - just a fan who thinks it’s funny and wouldn’t mind stealing Casey Mears away from the world).
And this from Jayski scares the CRAP out of me.
Chevy hopes to get Stewart back in Cup: One of the top executives in the General Motors racing operation said the automaker will attempt to sign Tony Stewart to a contract with another Chevrolet team after his current deal with Joe Gibbs Racing expires. “We’d be interested in Tony staying with Chevy,” Brent Dewar, GM North America vice president of sales, service and parts, said Friday at Richmond International Raceway. “Most fans don’t realize that the drivers sign with the teams, and we all respect that. I understand he’s through 2009 currently with Gibbs. We’d love for him to continue with Chevrolet down the road. … “We’ve had a great relationship with Tony.” Dewar also said Chevrolet will continue to support Stewart’s hobby—sprint-car racing—despite his defection to Toyota next year along with the rest of the Gibbs drivers. “We’ve just got to sit down and see if it makes sense for all parties,” Dewar said. “We are starting to work with him and develop … he’s passionate about sprint cars, so we can see some avenues.” Stewart said during last week’s Toyota press conference that he is planning an aggressive round of contract negotiations with his team.(Ford Racing)(9-8-2007)

Tanmany2k… I didn’t think about keeping the name of the children because my mom did that, but still… ya know? It’s like with Priscilla, she’s been remarried and has another child, but yet she still carries the Presley name and her life is basically still devoted to Elvis… it’s so odd *shakes head*

Yeah, that’s one thing I can say about Teresa is that she isn’t putting herself out in the spotlight, using the last name that she was given. If anything, she’s stayed out of the spotlight as much as possible.
And again, thanks for commenting on my site, it’s so great to have a male perspective around here sometimes
