Follow the yellow brick road…

photo023.jpgYesterday was… interesting. We get down to Jacksonville at 7:30 and end up not having a place to park and we thought we were going to have to pay $30 to park which.. huh…. not happening. Eventually we get a parking place and I get placed to be the producers “phone person” which basically what I ended up doing was answering the phone for the producer… they would call and say “So and so has an injured ankle and will be out the rest of the game”. I tell the producer, the producer tells the director who tells the broadcasters. I also wore this little headset and everytime there was an injured player, I would tell this guy (I think he was in NY) who it was and what team, or if there was a time out, I would tell who and what team. It was interesting and I felt like I had an important job role.

I just didn’t eat or sleep any yesterday, so today I’m dragging. I did however get the financial aid situation taken care of. They charged me twice for fall which meant I didn’t have any money for spring, so I got that taken care of, and since I’m only taking 5 hours in the summer to graduate, I won’t be enrolled full time and just pay by credit hour… so I’ll save the excess money back from spring after I use it to go to the dentist to pay for that, and I’ll be completely done! I also think that the loan with the private company is going through, therefore, I’ll have money to move on…. which is awesome too.

I also made a contact yesterday with CBS and I’m going to be contacting my contact at Fox here in the next few weeks to see about the Daytona stuff. Doing an NFL game is NO WHERE the circus that a NASCAR race is… seriously. The NASCAR stuff has 10 times more people, more trucks, more equipment, etc. CBS had two trucks, one for the production / playback stuff and one for graphics. The production truck that I was in was actually in Kansas City to do the Garth concert (Tara, I was like “AHHH” when the guy told me). So I’m guessing CBS owns GAC? Didn’t know that. Must look into that.

It was weird to see so many people wearing #99 jerseys with STROUD written on it. Kind of made me feel all special for going to high school with him lol Too bad he didn’t get to play yesterday.

Now I’m at school in my office. This is the last full week of school. I think my movie is due tomorrow so I’ve got to work on that this afternoon / tonight. This is a list of things to do this week:

Today - (from 2pm on) work for two hours, go edit movie, work some on b&c paper on pearlman
Tomorrow/Tuesday - doctors appt at 8 am, class at 9am, class at 11, work from 2 to 7, work on pearlman paper
Wednesday - newspaper production night
Thursday - not sure yet but def. work on pearlman paper
Friday - Pearlman paper is due *sigh*

Glad to hear that you had a good time working and made a new contact.

Good luck finishing your movie and working on that paper!

Sounds like things went well at the football game. I am so glad that things worked out with the finicial aid. I am sure that is a weight off your mind. Sounds like you have a full week. I am sure you will be glad to have this semester over. Try to get enough rest this week.

Glad it went well for you. No doubt an awesome experience that you can put on your resume.

Glad to see that you had fun! That will look good on your resume that’s for sure. That is just one more person/company to have a contact at for a job when you graduate!
