The future of NASCAR journalism | Diary of a Track Bunny

I’ve never been as sleepy as I am right now. Okay, that’s possibly a lie or I’m just deceiving you, the reader. Don’t ask, the difference between lying and deceiving was on my Media Ethics exam this morning. I think I did okay on it… I think I forgot one answer but I should have made at least an 80, I hope. Now I’m sitting here at work, working three extra hours today because I have my dentist appointment with the oral surgeon tomorrow. I admit, I’m a little nervous. Studying is where I’ve been hiding all weekend so that’s the reason for the lack of updates.

There’s also another reason..

I’m starting a new website, a NASCAR Magazine / Site geared to females (and males too if they’d like to visit). I’ve always wanted to do this and since I watched the E! True Hollywood Story on “Playboy” creator Hugh Hefner, I’ve been inspired to do so. After the website gets rolling, I plan on trying to create it into an actual print version that people can order online. Hopefully we’ll get some advertising going and actually make something of this!

So, if you would like to write for the new website / magazine, reply here and leave your email address in the form where it says so. I’ll contact you guys once I get everything going (which I do basically now… just have to settle on a name).

You can write anything from news, features, gossip, opinions, Top 10 list, anything original. Send it to me and I’ll post it. If you have photos or anything that you’ve taken, you can include those also. If you’re interested in writing, journalism, the media, whatever, you can be a part of this.

I’m a step away from saying “count me in” because of my current workload, and the fact that, really, what have I got to say? Tell me more about it when you get some free time so I can get a better idea (y’know me, I like structure lol) but for now, put me on your “maybe” list? I really like the idea!

This sounds like an amazing idea! I don’t know if I’d really have too much to offer but you’ve definitely got me interested!

Is this open to anyone or just people “in the field” or with a degree? I’m a stay at home mom with just a high school diploma but I love to write.

You can write whatever you like… and I think you do have something to say lol That’s what opinion pieces are for… expressing your concern or opinion over an incident (say the Robby Gordon situation), the F-1 drivers coming into NASCAR, the girlfriends, etc. You don’t have to write one every day, maybe once a week or whenever something comes up that you have an opinion on lol

Lisa, anybody can write. You don’t need to be a professional journalist or an insider. As long as you know something about NASCAR and can write coherent sentences and thoughts, it’s all gravy

I have a high school eduction but I’m planning on taking creative writing classes this fall at IUPUI. I would love to be a part of this, if that is alright. I love Nascar and while I love some drivers more than others, I’m willing to write on all or either that you need me to. I love this idea by the way, even if you don’t consider me, I will still visit the site.

Karah - Hey I might be able to give you an assist with your site. I am employed by the largest dedicated racing website to local weekly racing. We have 25+ reporters that go out nationally.

I can post some interesting racing items from the local tracks.

I will be starting to cover NASCAR as soon as they decide to finalize my credentials at the tracks for my reporters.

when is our first article due by?

I’m currently working on getting my degree in photojournalism. If you were to choose some of my photos for your magazine, do you think that would help me land a permanent job later on? From what I’ve heard most of the photographers are freelance, but I know most of the tracks won’t issue credentials for freelance work.

Oh woah! This is my first time to this site but thank god I found some other female NASCAR fans! I will probably be here very very often!!!!!
