It has been a LONG few days. Starting off with Wednesday with production night on the newspaper. That’s enough, even though I love doing it, this week has been just so stressful.
Yesterday, of course, was work for five hours, and then the awards ceremony that Taylor and I went to to receive our Journalism Excellence award. When the head of the English Department gave it to us, he said that were chosen as most likely to succeed in the journalism work field. I felt all giddy about that, and then Taylor also received his cross-training certificate in Journalism, which is what I’m working towards for December. That’s the award to the right… of couse I blurred out my last name and stuff, but that’s it, in the frame, and we also won a $50 check with the award.
This morning was pure hell. We had our mock interviews in Senior Seminar and while it wasn’t really hell, it was the whole anxious waiting for it. Well, I didn’t have to wait very long, because out of my group, I had to go first. They split all the Media professors up in groups of two, with three different groups and mine went okay I guess. I’ve never had a real real interview before but I think I made my point that I thought I was very qualified for the job (Online Producer at Sports Illustrated) because not only my love of sports and journalism, but because of my online and web design experience. After I was done, I stood outside and waited for a few of my friends to finish theirs and then I went to my next class, with who else but one of my interviewers lol
Next week we take our final exit exam for our major stuff and I’m kind of scared about it. I am horrible at taking test, even if I know the material like the back of my hand.
This weekend I need to start working on my rape article that I’m doing with Katie, write my Reba McEntire concert preview, and I have a test on Monday in Race, Class, and Gender. I also want to write on my new story over at My Confession, but I’m not sure if I’m going to have the chance to do it. I really need to also start on my paper and presentation on gossip journalism for Media Ethics.
I want this semester to be over with, but then again, I don’t. 80% of my friends at school and work are graduating and moving on with their lives. That kind of makes me sad too because it’s almost like high school, leaving everybody you’ve grown close to all over again. I’m sure I’ll keep in touch with at least 40% of them, but still. I’ll miss them all.
I’m just glad it’s not me and I decided to wait… I am SO not ready for that!
I also meet with the people I’m doing the internship with on Monday afternoon. I have another dentist appointment on Thursday and my MAMA IS ON SATURDAY! REBA! I was teasing Andrew, who is charge of all the video production where Reba is going to be, about getting me a backstage pass to meet her, but I know he doesn’t have that power really. It would just be awesome though.
Okay, so I’m going to go watch the Nationwide race and lie down.
This has been my usual Friday ramble.
