I didn’t sleep good last night. I’m not sure why. I guess because I was still worrying about my books and the fact that something happened with payroll again. I didn’t get paid for the newspaper and we’re all not sure what happened, but they’re cutting me a check and I’m picking it up Monday so that’s okay. The lady in payroll said I had a black clound hanging over me when money is concerned, which is true, especially when it’s stuff at school.
However, I did get my books today thanks to my 2nd Mom at work and my aunt who also gave me some money. My aunt is awesome and is really the only family I care about… her, my uncle (mom’s brother) and their kids. She is really the only one in my family I can count on. And then the other person helped me which… I hate having to ask people for things, which is why I hardly ever ask and I hate taking things from people, but I just really had no other choice. She said I could pay her back some everytime I get paid (every two weeks). So I got all of that taken care of and then our adviser gave me the book today for my independent study class and it seems really interesting. From what I’ve gathered, it’s basically how journalism mixes in with the media. I flipped through and saw things about blogging and podcast.
I really didn’t get to see the Tony Stewart / Ryan Newman press conference this morning. I had the video from NASCAR.com playing on my computer at work but I couldn’t hear it. My mom said that they both seemed happy though.
As for the newspaper… we had our first meeting yesterday and we’re finishing up the Back to School tab tomorrow. It has to be at the press by 5 p.m. I’m kind of worried about it because two of our new editors don’t know Quark and one has taken a class in it but has never really done what we’re doing before. So Lee (my managing editor) and I tried to finish up the majority of our stuff today so that we could help them with layout and design tomorrow. We both also took all the old issues over to the archives section at the library which was a huge ass relief because I was so tired of dealing with them. There was no way I could take all of that over by myself. I would have died.
So after all of that, I run by Target and Walmart to get a few supplies like pens, highlighter, paper, etc… and at Target they have all of this “Camp Rock” school stuff. I started talking to this girl in 7th grade about it and all and just, I felt like I was in that movie “13 going on 30″ with Jennifer Garner. I didn’t buy anything though. I got my stuff at Walmart and came home to find out our cable has been turned off. First the cell phone and now the cable.
But this time we didn’t do anything wrong. My mom stopped by the newspaper office and I gave her my check to go get cashed, get the money and go pay the cable bill. We told them we were paying it today when I got paid. Well she went by there, and they were closed. It wasn’t 5 o’clock yet (when they close) but nobody was there. She gets home and the cable has been cut off.
So either I have to go to my Aunt’s Sunday to watch the race or to my Mom’s friends house to watch it. I can’t watch or record the Nationwide race tomorrow with Tony’s bunny car and that saddens me. I’ll get over but I’m sad
Now ya’ll just pray everything goes smoothly with the newspaper tomorrow and my first issue as editor-in-chief doesn’t go all whack!
