Silly Season 2008: Is it over yet?

We already know where Tony Stewart and Mark Martin will end up in 2009. Stewart will be joining Haas CNC Racing to form Stewart-Haas Racing and Mark Martin will be taking over the #5 Hendrick Motorsports car.

J.J. Yeley was kicked the curb today from Hall of Fame Racing. Road Course Ringer P.J. Jones will drive the #96 DLP HDTV Toyota this weekend in Watkins Glen. Starting in Michigan, Nationwide Series driver Brad Coleman will take over for Yeley.

There’s also rumblings around NASCAR that Mark Martin could be in the #5 Kelloggs / Carquest Chevy at Hendrick Motorsports as early as this season.

And what about Ryan Newman? The press has all but signed him to Stewart-Haas Racing but neither Stewart, Newman, or anybody else at Haas has confirmed it. J.D. Gibbs from Joe Gibbs Racing has counted Newman out from taking over the #20 Home Depot Toyota for Stewart. It’s rumored that Nationwide Series driver Joey Logano will take over that ride.

Martin Truex, Jr. has stated that he is close to announcing what his plans for the future are but when a report came out that Dale Earnhardt, Inc. had signed him to a new agreement, he all but spit and took a dump on the rumor.

Babies are poppin’ out of everybody!

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban was born Monday to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban in Nashville.

Levi Alves McConaughey was born Monday to Matthew McConaughey and his girlfriend Camila Alves.

Just last month Stella Doreen McDermott was born to Tori Spelling and her husband, Dean McDermott. Honor Marie Warren was born to Jessica Alba and her husband, Cash Warren. Maddie Briann Aldridge was born to Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiancee, Casey Aldridge.

Coming Soon: Agelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s twins, Ashle Simpson and Pete Wentz rumored little boy, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s new baby, and Casey Mears’ bundle of joy.

Mears’ wardrobe changes from the last four years….

I was never really a Casey Mears fan until I met him at my first race in Charlotte at an autograph session. He was so unbelievably nice that I instantly became a fan of his. I’ve met him several times since that October day, and again he was always nice and most importantly had a sense of humor, even when we teased him about certain hand gestures.

The only thing that changed with Casey is his wardrobe. It’s not that he went from suit to spandex or anything, but his sponsors changed each year since then.

Elledge dismissed, Montoya pissed

Crew Chief Jimmy Elledge, who helped guide the racing careers of Casey Mears, Jamie McMurray, Reed Sorenson, and the past month, Juan Pablo Montoya, has been dismissed from Ganassi Racing after a heated argument with competition director Steve Hmiel (formerly of Dale Earnhardt, Inc.)

Elledge’s dismissal leads Montoya to have his third crew chief in a month with Brian Pattie taking over.

Montoya expressed his displeasure with the dismissal of Elledge after he qualified next to last in this Sunday’s Coca-Cola 500 at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.

Chip Ganassi said:

We had an employee step over the line, and I’m sorry it happened because I like Jimmy personally, but it had to be done. I know Juan is upset and he comes out on the short end of this deal. I apologize for that, but unfortunately it was unavoidable collateral damage.

Elledge is (or was) married to Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s sister, Kelley and together they have two children, Karsyn and Kennedy.

Feeding the Slutty Lizards….

So, I slept for hm, 15 hours. Yes, that’s how tired I was. It totally messed up my plans today. I planed to go around my hometown and video daytime scenes for my class project which I still can but it results in me having to miss parts of NASCAR Race Day on Speed and that makes me very unhappy.On the other hand… Tara reminded me of something… Junebug is wearing the man, the legend this weekend - Elvis Aron Presley. My…. I don’t know what to call him. He fascinates me. I’ve loved him my entire life and my middle name is Presley for God’s sake. I know I didn’t pick him to win this weekend, but I really hope I am proven wrong and if Elliott Sadler can’t win, I hope Junior does (or Truex)…. be Junior because of this car and what it means to me, him, and his Grandma Martha.

On THAT note, I was discussing this with Shannon yesterday at work and I’ve known about it for a while, but Liz Allison, Davey Allison’s widow who is now remarried but still apparently writes under her former married name (wonder how the husband feels about that? I think the same thing about Priscilla too so it’s not just Liz). And for the record, NONE of this is against Liz personally, just the book itself. Anyway, she’s written a new book, ‘Winning a NASCAR Driver’ which I think is just an attempt at three things: (more…)

And in the last 2 hours…

A lot has happened! Jesus, I’m sitting here researching on questions to ask in an Interview tonight with Miss International 2007 and I go to Jayski and all hell has broken loose!

First off… JJ Yeley will be driving the #96 Hall of Fame Racing Car in 2008 (Toyota or Chevy? Who knows at this point). I’m okay with that decision since they’re still a part of Joe Gibbs Racing.

Secondly… Tony Eury, Jr. will be Dale Earnhardt Jr’s crew chief next year in the still unnumbered car, but seems to be the Mountain Dew / Amp Energy Drink / National Guard Chevrolet.

And Finally… Casey Mears will be moving to the #5 and Dale, Jr’s team will be the #25 team with a new number. Hm, how many numbers in how many years is this? This year it’s the 25. In 2006 it was the 42. The year before that… 41. He just keeps going lower and lower….

I don’t know what to make of all this? What next? Tony Stewart leaving JGR?
