Blogging High School
Thursday, January 17th, 2008 191 viewsAs I approach my one year anniversary of being a blogger, I’ve come to learn that blogging is no different than high school. There are the bloggers who think that they are better than anybody else and their blog is the best thing since sliced bread. There are the bloggers who are the geeks, the ones that nobody ever talks to but they sit there, writing day after day just waiting for a comment. There are the bloggers who are picked on by trolls (bullies) and there are those bloggers who are like the head cheerleader - so popular that sometimes their popularity outshines what they really do - blog.
Whenever I tell someone I have a blog, I’m continiously asked if I’m one of those “mommy bloggers.” The ones that sit home all day online and write about what color the poop was in the diaper. Honestly, mommy bloggers don’t really do that at all. I’ll see pics of their kids, they’ll mention something one of their kids did but they never really continiously talk about them.
When I tell them that my blog has to deal with NASCAR a lot, I get the “Wow, rednecks know how to use computers” or “So a sports blog? Are you a lesbian.” It gets old. It’s like with the other PPP users who were kicked my google, we were put in a clique, aimed, and then attacked.
Why can’t a single, straight, college girl in her late 20’s have a blog without being put into a clique?
For the love of God, why can’t we just blog without prejudice?
