Bud, Kasey, Junior, and Drunk Racers!

Well it’s official… Kasey will be the new face of Budweiser next year… and everybody will see him as they walk into their local gas station to pay for gas. Penni, easier to get lifesize stand ups!

On that note… tomorrow Dale, Jr. announces his new sponsor and number.

Sweating, Sweating, Sweating

Dear god… why is it so hot outside? I mean, I know it’s been hot, but good god… this is just ridiculous! I drove around town, to shoot five outdoor daytime scenes for class and I was drenching in sweat by the first one. Then I started to do my indoor daytime scenes and I went to the church that I went to when I was little.

The doors were locked!

Since when did they start locking church doors on Sunday?!? I’m writing a letter to our free press to tell them that I was refused right to worship the Lord because the doors were locked. Granted, I was just going to film 10 seconds worth of footage for class, but still! Locked doors in a church?!? WTF….

As for NASCAR speak… I’m not sure if I have any comments. Okay, so I lied…

1. I’m not that suprised Junior’s not in the Chase, but I’m disappointed nonetheless.

2. I’m happy as a pig in shit that both Truex and Smokey are in it!

3. Tony’s hot with his hair like that - never cut the hair, Tony.

4. Whenever I type something thought provoking like I did yesterday, I barely get comments yet when it’s just random crap like this, I do. What gives?

So after sweating like a pig in the South Georgia heat for 30 minutes, I’m back inside to cool off before heading to the main town to work my girl Adaoibi on more footage stuff. BUT… I think I found the location of one of my short films this summer. I’ll take pics of it at a later time…. with my new zoom lens for my camera… heeheee.

Feeding the Slutty Lizards….

So, I slept for hm, 15 hours. Yes, that’s how tired I was. It totally messed up my plans today. I planed to go around my hometown and video daytime scenes for my class project which I still can but it results in me having to miss parts of NASCAR Race Day on Speed and that makes me very unhappy.On the other hand… Tara reminded me of something… Junebug is wearing the man, the legend this weekend - Elvis Aron Presley. My…. I don’t know what to call him. He fascinates me. I’ve loved him my entire life and my middle name is Presley for God’s sake. I know I didn’t pick him to win this weekend, but I really hope I am proven wrong and if Elliott Sadler can’t win, I hope Junior does (or Truex)…. be Junior because of this car and what it means to me, him, and his Grandma Martha.

On THAT note, I was discussing this with Shannon yesterday at work and I’ve known about it for a while, but Liz Allison, Davey Allison’s widow who is now remarried but still apparently writes under her former married name (wonder how the husband feels about that? I think the same thing about Priscilla too so it’s not just Liz). And for the record, NONE of this is against Liz personally, just the book itself. Death of the Pit Lizard & maybe JGR?

Today was a long day… I won’t lie. It began at 8:20 this morning, oversleeping and wanting desperately to go back to sleep. Talked about that propoganda Hilter’s film in Broadcasting & Culture and ran (literally) to my office to watch the JGR announcement where I could feel my heartbeat in my throat…

I’m not going to lie and say that I was relieved hearing Tony say that he was looking forward to Toyota next year. Am I against foreign manufacturers? No, of course not. In fact, I want a Camry… I rent them all time when I travel to places further than 2 hours away because my truck sucks. Do I know Tony Stewart is a great bullshitter? Hell yes. Hearing him joke at the press conference made me feel better because it’s his passion and sense of humor that I love about him. Oh yeah, and his new hairstyle. Don’t cut the hair, Anthony. (more…)

I became a Dale, Sr. fan tonight… I think.

So I’ve always let it be known that I never cared much for Dale Earnhardt. When I was a teenager (over 10 years ago (cries) and liked Jeff Gordon, he was the one driver I loathed. He was the Michael Vick to my Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. When he died is when I was disattached with the sport. I said “hmm” and went on with my life. I knew who his son was and I knew he was different than his dad but I wasn’t phased by it.

My sports writer / radio host paper boy Adam showed me a web site last week, I forgot the url, but it said the only right turn ever made in NASCAR was by Dale Earnhardt. You can take that any way you want to take it. To me, I got a chuckle out of it because I know better. Can you say road courses?  Then there was the part of me that knew that was a horrible thing to say.

Yet.. I still really wasn’t an Senior fan… until tonight. (more…)

And in the last 2 hours…

A lot has happened! Jesus, I’m sitting here researching on questions to ask in an Interview tonight with Miss International 2007 and I go to Jayski and all hell has broken loose!

First off… JJ Yeley will be driving the #96 Hall of Fame Racing Car in 2008 (Toyota or Chevy? Who knows at this point). I’m okay with that decision since they’re still a part of Joe Gibbs Racing.

Secondly… Tony Eury, Jr. will be Dale Earnhardt Jr’s crew chief next year in the still unnumbered car, but seems to be the Mountain Dew / Amp Energy Drink / National Guard Chevrolet.

And Finally… Casey Mears will be moving to the #5 and Dale, Jr’s team will be the #25 team with a new number. Hm, how many numbers in how many years is this? This year it’s the 25. In 2006 it was the 42. The year before that… 41. He just keeps going lower and lower….

I don’t know what to make of all this? What next? Tony Stewart leaving JGR?

38 For Junior?

I thought about this myself but figured there was no way he could get the number. I think it would make a lot of the Junior fans who jumped ship to Junior after Dale, Sr. died happy. They could merge all of their stuff… but from Jayski:

RYR asked NASCAR to transfer the #38 to Hendrick for Dale Jr.: SPEED’s Bob Dilner reported on Sunday’s SPEED report that Robert Yates Racing has asked NASCAR if they could transfer the #38 to Hendrick Motorsports in 2008 for Dale Eanrhardt Jr. to use, the #3 in honor of his father, the late Dale Earnhardt, who ran the #3 [a few races in 1981 and then from 1984 until the 2001 Daytona 500 and won 6 of his 7 championships using #3] and the #8 of course is Dale Jr.’s car #8 since he came into the sport. No word what number David Gilliland would switch to, but RYR still has the license on the #28, last used in 2002 with Ricky Rudd and has used the #90 in the past.(8-27-2007)
