According to Forbes Magzine, the top paid drivers in NASCAR’s premiere series are:

7. Matt Kenseth - $11 million

3 weeks ago: Kyle Busch (18) races past a crashing Elliott Sadler (19) and Tony Stewart (20) the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Dodge Challenger 500 at Darlington Raceway, South Carolina, May 10, 2008.
For the second time in less than a month, Elliott Sadler took Tony Stewart out of the race. The first time was Darlington and now… Dover. They should not be near one another on tracks that start with a ‘D.’
Also involved in the huge wreck: Clint Bowyer, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Bobby Labonte, Paul Menard, Kasey Kahne, Bill Elliott and Scott Riggs.

From the NASCAR.com article, “Stewart’s late slip hands Kahne Coca-Cola 600 win”, finally something about what happened to Tony Stewart after his tire went flat.
Instead, he wound up a frustrating 18th and stormed into his hauler without comment. He could be seen inside the truck kicking at the cabinets as crew chief Greg Zipadelli was left to answer questions about yet another near-miss.
It’s so heartbreaking and I’m usually not one to be like this, but it is and you have to know what he feels… exactly what Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has felt all season. They have come so close and then something silly or just something out of a movie happens and bam, their chances are gone.
I listened to them every lap of the race. They knew their car sucked during the daytime but as soon as the sun went down, the car turned on.
I just hope this frustration doesn’t lead Tony to leave Gibbs. A blown tire isn’t their fault. It’s nobody’s fault. It happened a few times tonight to several guys.
Heartbreaking. Now, I’ll go to sleep hoping Mr. Kahne knows that if that tire hadn’t of blown, he would have been to the side, watching Tony and the #20 crew celebrate in victory lane.

My last real full semester of college has started off on a good start. My Media Ethics class should be interesting. I think I’ll enjoy my Astronomy class and my Race Class & Gender class seems cool. I’m at work now, but will leave shortly to head upstairs to the office before heading to the newspaper class to meet with the new reporters. Then I come back to work until 8pm when I have my Astronomy lab. *sigh*
In other news, TGOM, who we all in the NASCAR fandom bow down to for her great NASCAR gossip, posted some pre-season stuff and…. Kasey Kahne has an older woman with a kid as his girlfriend? Interesting. The blind item is what got me…. I believe it’s Tony Stewart. I heard that Tara’s ex-husband was a big Tony Stewart fan, so LMFAO Whooo, that’s some good stuff. That makes my day.
In other news, Perez Hilton is reporting that Backstreet Boys are going to be dropped from Jive Records. I think that’s the best thing for everybody because Jive doesn’t promote them like they should and pick horrible songs for singles. It’s like they’re wanting BSB to fail.
And now I must close down my laptop and head upstairs in a few minutes to the office. Hope everybody is having a good Monday!

Wow, so I head over to Jayski for my daily NASCAR news fix and bam, there it is: Kasey Kahne is sued. I’m sorry, I’m dying laughing and I have no idea why. I guess it’s just because of the article itself says. Here’s what Jayski says according to the news channel in Miami:
A Miami law firm announced its plans Monday to file a lawsuit against a NASCAR driver accused of assaulting a 62-year-old security guard at the Homestead-Miami Speedway last month. Russell Dohan, an attorney with Goldberg & Dohan, said the lawsuit against NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne would be filed Monday in Miami. Kahne, 27, is charged with one count of battery against Archibald Hutchison, who was working as a security guard at the speedway for a race Nov. 16 when the incident allegedly occurred. According to a Homestead police report, Kahne was attempting to access a restricted recreational vehicle parking lot on a golf cart after he finished driving his racecar when Hutchison stopped him and asked him for credentials. Kahne stated that he was a driver and didn’t need any, then got out of the golf cart and tried to walk through the gate, the report stated. When Hutchison blocked the entrance and asked Kahne for credentials again, Kahne pushed Hutchison to the ground, according to the report. The report said Kahne was stopped and detained by law enforcement officers who witnessed the incident. He was arrested later that day and released on the signed condition that he appears in court. Hutchison, who was advised not to let any unauthorized people through gate 208 without exception, was treated at the speedway’s medical facility for minor bruises and abrasions, according to the report. Dohan said Hutchison hasn’t been able to return to work because of his injuries. Dohan said his client has suffered emotionally from the incident and is “getting killed” by NASCAR fans on Web site blogs. He also said he planned to have his client speak with the media about the lawsuit at a news conference planned for Tuesday. Per Jayski Per Local10
Gotta love the teenyboppers and their taking up for their driver. Merry Christmas, Kasey!

So this morning was amazing… Tara got us into the DEIInsider brunch and there were only like 10 of us there if that… and Max Seigal, Bono Manion, Kerry Earnhardt, Paul Menard’s crew chief, Regan Smith, and two developmental drivers (one that’s going to be racing at SGMP soon and actually mentioned it. So we got to ask questions, I asked Bono how Martin has changed as a person and driver, and we got to meet them.
I finally got to find out if Max worked with Backstreet Boys while he was with Zomba and Jive and he said yes and asked was I a fan so I’m happy now that I know for sure lol I told Bono that I’ve been a Martin fan since he first started in Busch and took a pic with him, which.. Kerry Earnhardt proceeded to give him Bunny ears and I was like “ahhh, yes!”. (more…)
