NASCAR used the race as payback to Tony Stewart for the cursing incident. I’m sure of it. I just…… I think I’m more pissed than Tony. The race should have been called. It was lightning and raining so much worse than it did at Michigan last year when Kasey Kahne won. If they couldn’t run the full race, they should have called the damn thing!
[ESPN.com} KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Tony Stewart will not be penalized for uttering an obscenity Saturday morning during the ESPN2 telecast of the Nextel Cup practice session, NASCAR officials confirmed Sunday at Kansas Speedway.
"It's unfortunate, but there's a lot of other noise when you see the tape," said Jim Hunter, NASCAR's vice president of corporate communications. "If you run it over and over, you get it. But if our viewers and ESPN's viewers are sitting at home watching it, there's a chance they might not have heard that." (more…)
Did anybody see this yesterday? I didn’t see it, and I’m very upset over it. Upset that I didn’t see it of course. When I posted that picture yesterday, I had no idea this happened. Was the voice on the television? Meaning could you hear him or just read his lips?
#20-Tony Stewart could face his second points deduction this season for using vulgar language after telling a cameraman to “get the f– away from me” during an ESPN2 broadcast shortly after the first Nextel Cup practice ended Saturday morning at Kansas Speedway. NASCAR officials requested a videotape of the exchange and said they were investigating the matter. A penalty could damage a bid for a third championship by Stewart, who will enter Sunday’s Lifelock 400 trailing Jeff Gordon by two points in the Chase for the Nextel Cup standings. Stewart was docked 25 points and fined $25,000 for saying “bull–” in an ESPN interview after winning the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. He was fined $10,000 and placed on probation through Dec. 31 for skipping media obligations after finishing second at Phoenix International Raceway on April 21. ESPN broadcaster Dr. Jerry Punch apologized to viewers after Stewart’s latest transgression. “It was an unfortunate incident,” ESPN spokesman George McNeilly said. “The tape speaks for itself. In our view, the photographer was doing his job.”(USA Today)(9-30-2007)
Did anybody see the Top 12 drivers on Letterman tonight? I have a few comments.
1. Tony looked like a member of the Sorprano’s. Hello mobster?
2. Truex looked so cute. I feel like a proud parent since I’ve watched him go through the NASCAR ranks. Funny thing is… he’s like two weeks older than me. Weird to feel like a parent when ya say that.
3. Matthew Kenseth always has that mischevious look on his face when he’s on television. Bashful much?
4. Can the writer’s in whatever city head offices write better one liners? Seriously… I stood with my three friends as they were sending tomorrow’s paper to the printers and I’m just shaking my head. This did not help in my quest to convert them to NASCAR fans.
Sigh, on that note… today was a BAD and GOOD day. I’ll post a private topic tomorrow with the GOOD stuff, but… I locked my keys in my truck with the windows down a little so I had a freak out session because I forgot to take my medication this morning. Luckily a nice guy helped me when the freakin’ school police department wouldn’t.
“We aren’t allowed to touch cars”
“You wouldn’t mind touching it if you were giving a ticket, now would you?” *hangs up*
But… found out today that Bruce Bruce is coming here for our Homecoming Comedy Show! I’m going to try to get an interview with him before hand and hopefully meet him that night. I loooove Bruce Bruce! If you don’t know who he is, he’s on BET’s comedy shows a lot. Look him up. You’ll love him.
So I’ve always let it be known that I never cared much for Dale Earnhardt. When I was a teenager (over 10 years ago (cries) and liked Jeff Gordon, he was the one driver I loathed. He was the Michael Vick to my Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. When he died is when I was disattached with the sport. I said “hmm” and went on with my life. I knew who his son was and I knew he was different than his dad but I wasn’t phased by it.
My sports writer / radio host paper boy Adam showed me a web site last week, I forgot the url, but it said the only right turn ever made in NASCAR was by Dale Earnhardt. You can take that any way you want to take it. To me, I got a chuckle out of it because I know better. Can you say road courses? Then there was the part of me that knew that was a horrible thing to say.
Yet.. I still really wasn’t an Senior fan… until tonight. (more…)
To say the least… this week has been on every end of the spectrum for me. It was exhausting, but satisfying…. happy, but sad…. and amazing, but devastating. Thankfully, I’m home, in my pj’s, and ready to go to bed. The sound of the Busch cars going around the track in Bristol for the race is making me sleepy. Who knew?
One thing though that has gotten to me is people disrespecting the things I like while in front of me. Are you really watching NASCAR? Elvis is overrated. Seriously… you don’t tell someone who’s middle name is Presley by CHOICE that Elvis is overrated. It’s not smart and not very gracious.
My pic for the Nextel Cup Bristol Race? Kasey Kahne or Kyle Busch… it’s a K… I can feel the K-ness.
Hey, I'm not gonna lie. I'm a college student who works two jobs. Wanna show you appreciate my work here on the site and for your entertainment, slip me a dollar! It's better than stripping :)
