Oh, Penni will have a fit…. According to Jayski: Valvoline Evernham Racing and Scott Riggs Will Part Ways in 2008: Valvoline Evernham Racing and Gillett Evernham Motorsports announced Wednesday that driver Scott Riggs will not be back in the #10 Dodge for the 2008 season. Over the past two seasons the successful partnership between Riggs and Valvoline Evernham Racing has grown Gillett Evernham Motorsports into a three car operation. Together Riggs and Valvoline Evernham Racing have claimed three Nextel Cup Series poles, including a win and a pole in the Nextel Open, nine top 10s, and a finish of 20th in owners points last season. Plans for a replacement driver have not yet been made. ?Scott Riggs has represented Valvoline Evernham Racing well over the past two seasons through his talent behind the wheel and his down to earth personality off the track,? said Jim Rocco, Team Owner of Valvoline Evernham Racing. ?Thanks to his efforts, the #10 team has accomplished a great deal since starting out as a new team last season. We wish Scott success in the future and know he will be an asset to his new team.?(GEM PR), rumored drivers to the #10 include David Stremme and Patrick Carpentier.(10-4-2007)
Hopefully David Stremme won’t go over there. Kasey would have a puddle in his pants if you know what I mean. Ick.

Per Joe Gibbs Racing: Mars U.S. announced a three-year partnership with M&M’S Brand Chocolate Candies as the sponsor of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) team and driver Kyle Busch in the Sprint Cup Series beginning in 2008. “I can’t wait to climb behind the wheel of the M&M’S car next season,” Busch said. “M&M’S Racing has been a fan favorite for years in the sport and it’s an honor to drive for one of the most recognized brands in the world. My focus is to win, and I know that everyone at Mars shares that vision as well. I want to thank the associates at Mars U.S. for this opportunity and look forward to a winning relationship.”
During the 2008 season, Mars U.S. brands will serve as the primary sponsor of JGR’s #18 Sprint Cup Series team for a total of 30 point races. Mars will feature the popular M&M’S Brand colors beginning with the 50th running of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 17. Snickers and Pedigree also will serve as primary brand sponsors for several races. Additionally, Combos, Twix, Skittles, Starburst and Milkey Way brands will provide support as associate sponsors. Interstate Batteries will serve as a primary sponsor of the #18 Sprint Cup team for six point races. The 2008 season will mark the 15th year for Mars U.S. as a primary sponsor in NASCAR’s premier racing division. The famous candy maker joined the series in 1990, running its first three seasons under the Snickers Brand moniker. After serving as an associate sponsor for four seasons, the company returned with the Skittles Brand colors in 1997 before transitioning to M&M’S Brand Chocolate Candies in 1999.

From Jayski:
David Gilliland knows he’ll likely need a new sponsor following this season since M&M’s has emerged as a candidate to sponsor Kyle Busch’s #18 Joe Gibbs Racing entry in 2008. Gilliland, the Robert Yates Racing driver who has driven with M&M’s sponsorship since he entered the Nextel Cup Series in August of last year, said he’s aware that M&M’s is likely headed elsewhere in 2008. “I read it on the Internet,” he said Friday at Dover International Speedway, site of this weekend’s Dodge Dealers 400. “My understanding was we had a contract that went through next year, so I don’t know what happened with that. Hopefully we’ll find another sponsor who wants to be here and support us next year.” M&M’s has made a decision and will announce its future sponsorship plans on Oct. 3, spokeswoman Rhonda King said Friday.(SceneDaily.com)(9-21-2007)

Even though Tony hates it, all 12 Chase drivers are going to be in New York City for the next two days for driver appearances and media.
Tonight (Wednesday), they’ll be on David Letterman at 11:30pm EST. Tomorrow they’re likely to be on numerous morning shows including Regis and that annoying wench, The Early Show (CBS), Fox and Friends (Fox News), Good Morning America (ABC), and probably someone will be over at the Today show (NBC).

Don’t ask, I remember a line from a movie with the girl telling the guy “poke a nose” really flirty for Pocono. I’ve never been a big fan of Pocono and I knew that nobody really worthy would win this weekend (out of my boys, anyway). But my thoughts include: (more…)
