Tryin’ to keep from going under…

I admit that I’ve been distancing myself from certain things lately. Usually when things start to get on my nerves, annoy me, or just plain out piss me off, I’ll distance myself and not tell someone, but kind of let them know in a certain way. I’ve been distancing myself from Twitter and while part of that is because I’ve been to busy to tweet and with my phone being disconnected, yeah, not easy. I’ve been distancing myself from NASCAR lately. I even contemplated missing the Bristol night race to go to the football game.

Then Tropical Storm Fay decided to make a decision for me. The roads were closed out of town so I couldn’t go.  They did, however, ended up winning 56-3. Titletown, baby! (more…)

Fly on the wall

Tomorrow is Friday and so it ends the first week of my final year of college. Sure, I thought last year would be it but my life and direction has taken a real strange turn since last fall. I think I’ve found what I’m good at and what I understand.  I think I also understand why Taylor complained a lot last year. Being the Editor-in-Chief is a tough job. There’s all of these responsibilities, which I don’t mind, just couple that with class and working almost 20 hours a week, it’s tough. I can do it though…. I think lol (more…)

Living in a crazy world…

As you can probably tell by the lack of updates the past few days, everything with me is back in session. The paper is back in session. Class started back today. Work is still going on and I came home and passed slap out until about 9:15 tonight. I was so tired on the way home that I almost fell asleep driving.

Once I get into the swing of things, the regular gossip updates will be back…. the first few days is always hectic!

I’ve been awake almost 19 hours…

I didn’t sleep good last night. I’m not sure why. I guess because I was still worrying about my books and the fact that something happened with payroll again. I didn’t get paid for the newspaper and we’re all not sure what happened, but they’re cutting me a check and I’m picking it up Monday so that’s okay. The lady in payroll said I had a black clound hanging over me when money is concerned, which is true, especially when it’s stuff at school. (more…)

Your dirty secret, you rock of love….

This is going to be short and quick. It’s almost midnight and I need to get in bed. I have the first newspaper meeting in the morning. I’ve been working a lot this week in the SL office and getting things ready at the newspaper. I’m really tired and just… tired. I’m trying to come up with money to buy books with b/c financial aid isn’t covering it this time… not all of it. My phone isn’t working. There’s -$ in my bank account. Having surgery this summer and missing two weeks a work really put me back. I’ll be glad when the regular paychecks start coming in from work and I can catch everything up, get my phone back to working, get my checking account straight and everything else.

The perfectionist in me likes labels

It’s currently in between semesters at school and since I’m now editor-in-chief, you know what that means? I’ve having to organize everything, especially with our new office. See with our old office, everything was thrown around, not in order - nothing. With this new office, it’s going to stay nice and neat and most importantly, it is going to stay organized, especially the files and paper work.

I’ve also been one to love to organize stuff. I mean sure, you wouldn’t tell it by looking at my bedroom, but I really enjoy it. I remember when I was little and how I had to have new stuff every school year. I would go crazy with pens, paper, and pencils. I had notebooks with Debbie Gibson and New Kids on the Block on them.  I was always organized and I’m glad I’m still that same way.

So I’m going to organize all the stuff in our office with the Tymo label maker. Not only can you make decent and practical labels, but you can make pretty ones! Color labels are my favorite. I wish I had the Dymo label maker when I was little because I most definitely would have used it to label my folders. I never really liked my handwriting and that would have came in handy big time!

It’s a call I’ll never get…

I was updating MC yesterday for the first real time in over a month and updated the layout and stuff. I admit that I’ve pretty much ignored the site all summer but this is the first real summer where I’ve been completely busy the entire time. Now that it’s died down a little and I have two weeks until fall starts, I can get a little bit of “online” work done.

I ended up passing Algebra, with a ‘D’ no less. I would have had a ‘C’ I think but I bombed the final. I don’t know why but I did. As long as I passed that class though, I don’t care. (more…)

Burning Up for you baby….

I know that I’ve been a little MIA lately and I do apologize. This week brings the last week of my class, which I’ll find out if I passed tomorrow. It’s also brought a lot of stress and involving me doing a few things like I never thought I would do - turning to the sperm donor (aka father) for actual help.

I’ll make a longer post tomorrow. I need to get to bed right now because I have work at 8 a.m. I just wanted to thank everybody for stopping by, even when I don’t ramble on about NASCAR, celebrity gossip, or myself.
